When the user presses a touch-activated switch a first time, a first digital storage device becomes set and furnishes a platter-motor-start signal to the control electronics of the platter drive motor. If the touch-activated switch is pressed a second time, the first digital storage device becomes reset, and the signal commanding that the platter drive motor operate terminates. A second digital storage device likewise assumes its set and reset states in response to the first and second pressing of the touch-activated switch. Sensors ascertain various operating conditions during the course of turntable operation, such as the swinging of the tone arm to the position corresponding to the lead-in groove of a phonograph record. The states of the digital storage devices are additionally dependent upon the conditions sensed by the sensors. Logic circuitry interprets the combinations of states of the digital storage devices and causes the requisite turntable operations to be performed, e.g., lifting and lowering of the tone arm, inward and outward swinging of the tone arm, initiation and termination of rotation of the platter, audio muting, and the like.

(54) DEVICE FOR MANAGING TONARM

The invention relates to the accumulation of information, namely, devices for controlling tonearms.
A device for controlling the tonearm is known, which contains a unit for lifting and lowering the tonearm on shellac 1. This device allows for relatively high smoothness of dropping the tonearm on the shellac and lifting it from it.
The disadvantage of it consists in the considerable duration of the process of raising and lowering the tonearm.
It is also known a device for controlling the tonearm, holding the electronic control unit of the driving motor, connected to the limit switch block, an amplifier connected via a switch to the tonear turning unit, lifting and lowering the tonearm unit, I-NET logic switch, push-start and stop switches and logical element OR 2. This device provides a relatively high speed of raising and lowering the tonearm.
Its disadvantage is the considerable complexity of its maintenance.
The purpose of the invention is to simplify the maintenance of the device for controlling the tonearm.

This is achieved by introducing the first and second digital memory blocks into the tonearm control unit, the outputs of which are connected to the inputs of the amplifier and the inputs of the OR logic element connected to the lifting and lowering node of the turntable connected to the switch, the third digital block a memory connected to push-button start and stop switches and to the output of an I-NO logic element connected to one of the outputs of the limit switch block, and a current sensing element made with an integrator m, the first and second outputs to a control input connected to the pivot arm assembly. The third digital storage unit is connected to the first output of the current sensitive element, to the input of the electronic control unit of the electric motor, to the input of the second digital storage unit connected to another output of the limit switch unit, and to the input of the first digital storage unit connected to the second output current sensitive element. The drawing shows one of the possible variants of the proposed device for controlling the arm. The device contains an electronic driving unit I control unit connected to a limit switch unit 2, the outputs of which are connected to a shear force compensator 3 connected to the output of the logic element OR 4. The device also contains the first 5, second 6 and third 7 digital memories. The outputs of the first 5 and second 6 digital memory blocks are connected to the inputs of the amplifier 8 and the inputs of the logic element OR 4 connected to the node 9 of raising and lowering the arm to the record. The node 9 is connected to the switch 10, through which the amplifier 8 is connected to the node 11 of turning the tonearm 1. The third digital memory block 7 is connected to the pushbutton switches of start 12 and stop 13, as well as to the output of an I-NET 14 logic element connected to one from the outputs of the block 2 limit switches. The device also contains a current-sensing element 15, made with an integrator, with the first and second outputs and with a control input connected to the node 11 of turning the tonearm connected to the output of the roll-up compensator 3. A third digital storage unit 7 is connected to the first output of the current-sensitive element 15, which is connected to the input of the driving motor electronic unit 1. The third digital memory block 7 is also connected to the input of the second digital memory block 6 connected to another output of the block 2 limit switches 2, and to the input of the first digital memory block 5 connected to the second output of the current sensitive element 15. First 5, second 6 and the third 7 digital memory blocks provide control for switching the drive motor on and off and moving the tonearm from the edge of the record to its center, and vice versa. Logic element OR 4 provides control of node 9 for raising and lowering the arm on the shellac. The use of the invention will simplify the maintenance of the device for controlling the tonearm. An apparatus for controlling a tonearm, comprising an electronic control unit for a driving motor, connected to a limit switch unit, an amplifier connected through a switch to the tonearm turning unit, lifting and lowering the tonearm unit on a record plate, an I-NO logic element, button start and stop switches and logical element OR, characterized in that, in order to simplify the maintenance of the device, the first and second digital memory blocks are inserted into it, the outputs of which are connected to the inputs of the amplifier ate to the inputs of an OR gate connected to a lifting and lowering arm of the tonearm on a gramophone plate connected to a switch; a third digital memory block connected to the pushbutton start and stop switches and to the output of an I-NO logic element connected to one of the block outputs limit switches, and a current-sensing element, made with an integrator, with the first and second outputs and with a control input connected to the tonearm rotation node, the third digital memory unit being connected to the first output tochovs element, with the input of the electronic control unit of the electric motor, with the input of the second digital memory unit connected to another output of the limit switch unit, and with the input of the first digital memory unit connected to the second output of the current sensitive element.
